Christiaan Muñoz-Salas is a professional cinematographer, filmmaker and photographer based in Santiago, Chile. He graduated from film school specializing in long and short fiction films, documentaries and observation films. He has been involved in natural history filmmaking since his earlier days, following the foot steps of his father, working closely with him in many productions. This close association lead him early to fall in love with nature, learning most wildlife behavior through a lens.
He has been a full time cinematographer since 2010.
In addition to storytelling, he also has an extensive knowledge on film equipment and technology, which includes the latest UHD and high Speed cameras, film cameras, motion controlled systems, gimbals and lighting systems.
His work has been featured in many films around the globe. Recent productions include: Chilevision's wildlife series “Wild Chile”; Animal Planet/Discovery Channel's "Wild Expectations" which was awarded the Emerging Talent Award at the 2017 Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival; BBC's mini landmark series "Patagonia: Earth's Secret Paradise"; "Attenborough and the Giant Dinosaur" which was awarded the Special Jury Award at the 2016 Wildscreen festival and BBC's Planet Earth II which won the BAFTA as well as Prime Time Emmy Awards in 2017.
